Travelling to different parts of the world can be an enriching experience, opening our minds to diverse cultures, customs, and traditions. Among the many destinations to explore, the Arab countries offer unique and fascinating experiences to travelers. This article will delve into my personal encounters with three Arab countries: Egypt in 2003, Morocco in 2012, and Oman in 2018.

Egypt 2003: Unveiling Ancient Wonders

As I arrived in Cairo, the capital city of Egypt, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and excitement. The rich history and ancient wonders that this country holds are simply captivating. Exploring the iconic Pyramids of Giza, I marveled at the tremendous architectural achievement of the ancient Egyptians. The sheer size and precision of these structures left me in awe.

Wandering through the labyrinthine alleys of the Khan El Khalili bazaar, I immersed myself in the vibrant energy of Cairo’s bustling markets. The colorful displays of spices, textiles, and souvenirs delighted all my senses. Bargaining with locals for traditional artifacts was not only a way to secure unique keepsakes but also an opportunity to engage with the warm and friendly Egyptian people.

A trip to Luxor took me on a journey through ancient Egypt's powerful past. Visiting the Temple of Karnak and the Valley of the Kings, I couldn't help but be amazed by the intricate artwork, hieroglyphics, and spiritual significance present in these archaeological sites. The vastness of their historical importance left a lasting impression on me.

Morocco 2012: Immersed in Vibrant Culture

In 2012, my travels led me to the enchanting land of Morocco. The vibrant and diverse culture of this North African country left an indelible mark on my heart. Exploring the bustling streets of Marrakech, I was enveloped in a sensory symphony of sights, sounds, and scents. The bustling Djemaa El Fna square, with its snake charmers, street performers, and tantalizing food stalls, was an experience like no other.

Traveling further into the desert, I embarked on a camel trek through the mesmerizing dunes of the Sahara. The breathtaking golden sands stretched as far as my eyes could see, creating a sense of tranquility and solitude. Spending a night in a traditional Berber camp, I was captivated by the warm hospitality and mesmerizing starry desert sky.

Fez, the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco, offered a glimpse into centuries-old traditions. The medina of Fez, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a maze-like labyrinth of alleyways where time seems to stand still. Immersing myself in the rich tapestry of Moroccan craftsmanship, I found myself wandering through ancient palaces, vibrant markets, and historic mosques.

Oman 2018: Discovering Hidden Beauty

The Sultanate of Oman, nestled on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, beckoned with its hidden beauty and tranquility. Exploring the majestic mountains of Jebel Akhdar, I marveled at the terraced oasis and breathtaking views. The rose gardens, known for producing exquisite rosewater, filled the air with their delightful fragrance.

Visiting the ancient city of Nizwa, I explored the historic fort and its bustling souq. Immersed in the rich Omani culture, I indulged in traditional cuisine and interacted with friendly locals. The peaceful ambiance of this city, with its date palm groves and historic charm, provided a welcome escape from the fast-paced modern world.

Heading to the coast, I experienced the pristine beauty of Oman's beaches. Wandering along the powdery white sands and swimming in the crystal-clear turquoise waters, I felt a sense of serenity and rejuvenation. The coastal towns, such as Muscat and Salalah, offered glimpses into Oman's maritime heritage and Arabian traditions.

My experiences in Egypt, Morocco, and Oman have been nothing short of extraordinary. Each Arab country provided its unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Immersing myself in the vibrant cities, diving into the rich heritage, and exploring the ancient wonders created memories that will last a lifetime.

Traveling to Arab countries allows us to step out of our comfort zones, embracing different cultures and broadening our perspectives. The allure of Egypt's ancient wonders, the vibrant colors of Morocco's culture, and the hidden beauty of Oman make these countries an absolute must-visit. So, pack your bags and embark on a journey of a lifetime!

With the Arab countries of Egypt, Morocco and the OMAN we were able to gain very different experiences regarding the behavior towards foreign tourists. In Egypt, we noticed the great need for security, as evidenced by the armed police convoy escorting us through the desert to Luxor. The Moroccans were extremely hostile. While in the OMAN a great tolerance and friendliness was felt.
